Engineering and design

Basic engineering, also known as FEED, is defined as the project phase in which documentation of the process and associated engineering is produced with sufficient quality and depth to adequately define the equipment, lines and other specifications for the detailed engineering, procurement and construction phases of the project facilities.

Detailed engineering is the phase of the engineering process that transforms conceptual designs into precise and complete technical specifications, ready for manufacturing, construction or implementation. Imagine you want to build a house. The initial idea is to have a place with bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom, but how do you turn those abstract ideas into a habitable structure? That's where detailed engineering comes in.

Commissioning

Commissioning comes from the naval industry, where it is essential to check that all systems are working correctly, since a failure can compromise the lives of passengers. In the construction industry, its use is relatively new; Public Works Canada first incorporated it into its processes in 1977, and it was not until 1984 that ASHRAE created the first Commissioning Committee, with the objective of developing a guide that would serve as a basis for directing this process. It was the growing number of complaints about the inadequate functioning of air conditioning equipment, its high operating cost and the decrease in comfort levels, which initially led to its incorporation.

In 1998, the USGBC (US Green Building Council) incorporated the commissioning process into its requirements for LEED certification. Since then, its use in buildings seeking sustainable certification and/or in high-performance buildings has contributed significantly to its dissemination.

Essays

Electrical testing includes testing and diagnostics, condition-based maintenance (CBM), predictive maintenance and commissioning services for all types of electrical installations and equipment (low, medium and high voltage). This includes transformers, motors, generators, cables, grounding systems, rotating equipment, solar photovoltaic modules and inverters. Electrical equipment testing helps to determine its condition, preventing service failures and unnecessary preventive actions.

Offshore Assistance

Offshore wind energy harnesses the power of the wind at sea, where it reaches greater speed and consistency as it encounters no physical barriers to slow it down, to produce electricity. Offshore wind is one of our biggest current growth vectors and a renewable technology in which there is growing global interest, as well as more research to access its installation at greater depths, reduce production and installation costs, making its development profitable and sustainable.

Setting up automatic control systems

It is a set of automated devices that control the transformation, transport and distribution of electrical energy in equipment, whether industrial or domestic, in addition to regulating the flow of electrical current needed for its correct operation.

These mechanisms must be able to:

  • Ensure the stability of the electric current.

  • Be efficient in each of your control phases.

  • Be easy to implement by operators.

Maintenance

The term is often used to refer to preventive and repair procedures carried out on buildings and machines to keep them in working order. Maintenance involves the preservation and restoration of elements.

Preventive maintenance is the maintenance that is aimed at preserving facilities and mechanisms . For this purpose, inspections are carried out on equipment that is in operation. The purpose of preventive maintenance is to minimize the risk of failure: this can be achieved by replacing parts that are worn, for example.

Especificaciones técnicas

A technical specification is a document that prescribes the technical requirements that a product, process, service or system must meet and that establishes one or more of the following aspects:

  • Characteristics that a product must have: quality, performance, interoperability, environmental protection, health and safety levels and its dimensions. Also requirements applicable to the product with regard to the name under which it is sold, terminology, symbols, tests and test methods, packaging, marking or labelling and conformity assessment procedures;

  • The characteristics that a service must have: quality levels, performance, interoperability, environmental protection, health or safety. Also the requirements applicable to the provider with regard to the information that must be provided to the recipient,

  • When harmonised Community legislation requires a conformity assessment of a specific product, certain procedures are followed.
